Data-Driven Family Engagement Tools for Head Start and State Preschools
Learning Genie is an app for ECE educators and family service workers for Distant Learning and Family Engagement including tracking in-kind. During the COVID-19 crisis, Learning Genie offers free tools till the end of 2020 under a grant (or in-kind) to support all ECE agencies for Distance Learning and track school readiness outcomes.
PRESCHOOL PORTFOLIO APP- LEARNING GENIE
Learning Genie also provides a useful application for portfolio-building. The portfolio tracking and tagging systems could be readily applied to DRDP 2015, Florida VPK, Head Start (HS), Early Head Start (EHS), Montessori, and other state or private-backed assessment tools.
Shatarra Bridges
I am Shatarra Bridges, Family Child Care Owner of A Child’s Experience. I have been a child care provider for over 20 years, and I still have the same passion and love for what I do. My reward is seeing a smile on the child’s and parents face at the end of the day, and knowing that each family that leaves the child in my care leaves with a peace of mind.
When I began using the Learning genie App, it was a WOW from the start! When I registered a parent it was always the first thing I mentioned with one of the ways I communicate with parents. Learning Genie App allows families to feel connected while at away from their pride and joy. They can save pictures, check on how they are developing, how much they ate, the story that was read, as well as purchasing the book if needed. Learning Genie is a huge part of my program and I will continue using Learning Genie as a part of my success!

Liam Kelly
My name is Cheryl and I have been a teacher since 1996. I have taught kindergarten and now I teach Jr. Kindergarten to children who are ages 4 and 5. Working with children is lifetime dream that I had as a child. I wanted children to grow and learn in a fun environment that they could go home and tell their families about. Communicating with the families can be a challenge if you don’t see them at the beginning or end of the day. The Learning Genie has helped to complete this task.
When the Learning Genie was introduced to me, I was very excited about sharing with the parents what I was teaching to the children on a more personable level. One of the most valuable features that I used was taking photos of the children doing activities and being able to send the pictures electronically to the parents on a daily basis. The parents were very excited each day to receive their email and see what their child had learned. The parents would use information we provided on a daily basis and talk about what they learned at school. This was a great conversation starter. Most children would come home from school and ask their child what they learned at school today and most would say “nothing I just played”. With the daily information I found that the children showed what they learned at school sometimes teaching their parents some things.
